Houston International Trade Center Launches Global Business Delegation to Mexico
Strategic Partnership Formed with Mexican Consulate to Advance Cross-Border Investment and Industrial Cooperation
Today marked a turning point—not just for a city or an institution, but for a vision taking shape on the international stage.
From Houston, Texas, the Houston International Trade Center (HITC) officially announced the formation of a global business and investment delegation set to explore opportunities in Mexico and Latin America. It is a bold move, designed to accelerate cross-border cooperation, industrial expansion, and the integration of global supply chains in manufacturing, logistics, and technology.
More than a simple announcement, today signaled a deeper alignment of purpose. A strategic partnership has now been established between HITC and the Consulate General of Mexico in Houston—a powerful alliance that will welcome businesses from around the world to plant roots in Mexico, supported by legal, logistical, and governmental assistance.
“This is more than a delegation—it is a mission,” said HITC founder Mr. Wea Lee.
“We are calling on global partners to seize the moment. Mexico is rapidly emerging as a new gateway to the Americas, and Houston is ready to lead that connection.”
Why Mexico?
Mexico offers a compelling case for investment: a strategic geographic location, a skilled, yet cost-effective labor force, far-reaching trade agreements (notably the USMCA), and a policy environment that welcomes industrial innovation. It has become the destination of choice for nearshoring as supply chains shift closer to North America. Today, sectors such as manufacturing, electronics, renewable energy, and logistics are actively seeking international partnerships.
Delegation Planning
This HITC-led delegation will bring together entrepreneurs, executives, and investors from the U.S., Asia, and Europe. It will include high-level meetings with local economic development agencies, on-site visits to industrial parks, and matchmaking sessions with legal advisors, regional officials, and potential partners.
Tentative destinations include:
• Monterrey – Northern hub for industrial innovation
• Guadalajara – Technology and electronics stronghold
• Mexico City – Capital of policy and finance
• Querétaro and Guanajuato – Centers of automotive and aerospace excellence
Participants will also receive guidance on regulatory frameworks, labor law, and investment registration to ensure smooth market entry.
A Strategic Vision
But beyond business, this initiative is the beginning of something far more ambitious: a vision to build a “New Belt and Road for the Americas,” with Houston as its global launchpad. Through this corridor, HITC will foster long-term cooperation, shared prosperity, and economic connectivity across North America, Asia, and Latin America.
“Houston is not just a city—it’s a springboard for the world,” said Mr. Lee.
“This mission will open new doors, generate real impact, and help redefine how business across the Americas will be done in the future.”
