Hillary Clinton addressed the
Democratic convention Tuesday night. In her speech, she tred
to persuade her die-hard supporters to get firmly behind Barack
Obama's White House bid.
The Obama camp hopes her high profile appearance can heal the
wounds of a bruising nominating battle and win over intransigent
Clinton supporters, many who are still angry over
his triumph as well as his choice of Biden as his running mate.
Obama tried to give Clinton and her husband major roles in the
convention. Bill Clinton will address to convention Wednesday
night. Clinton told reporters that, "There are going to be some
of the Senator's supporters who
we are going to have to work hard to persuade to come onboard,
but that's not surprising."
In the second day of the convention, the theme is to lay out
some of Obama's proposals to give aid to lower and middle class
voters suffering in a faltering U.S. economy. Recent polls show
that the economy is the top issue.
Clinton told the delegates, "We are all democrats, so it may
take a while. We are not the fall-in-line-party. We are diverse.
But make no mistake---we are unified." |
