hope for track glory at the Beijing Games said he was so sorry
for his dramatic withdrawal from the Olympics. In an interview,

support me. I feel very sorry. But there's really nothing I
could do."
When?Liu withdrew from his heat in the 110-meter hurdles, it
shocked and disappointed millions of Chinese who wanted to see
him defend his Olympic title at home. He won China's first
Olympic gold medal on the track in Athens four years ago, and
immediately became a superstar in China.
The country?leaders are now paying close attention to Liu's
injury, and hope he will be able to quickly return to health.
Liu's sponsor –Nike-- also signaled full support in an ad which
stated, "Love the glory. Love the pain. Love sport even when it
break your heart."
Liu said, "I still will have a chance next year. I will not
easily give up."
His decision to pull out of the Olympics causes all Chinese
sadness, but also brings sympathy
for the superstar. |
