Billionaires team up to fight
smoking |

New York Mayor
Michael Bloomberg and billionaire Bill Gates teamed up to donate
$375 million dollars to support projects that will raise tobacco
taxes, help smokers quit, ban tobacco advertising and protect
nonsmoker from exposure to smoke.
The two billionaires who have a
combined worth of more than $70 billion, said that, "Together we
can make a clear, measurable difference--not just for ourselves
and our generation, but for the generations that come after us."
Bloomberg, an ex-smoker, and Bill
Gates made the announcement together in New York. They also
hinted it might be just the first of "many things" they will do
together.
We are so glad to see such a
worthwhile project that will bring a part of the solution to the
troubled world we are facing. |
