Obama Visits China

U.S. President Barack Obama told Chinese leaders that the Yuan currency should rise in value and make American products easier to export to China.

With the American unemployment rate at 10.2 percent, one of Obama's priorities on his trip is pressing Beijing over the huge trade imbalance between the two countries -- a move he believes would pave the way for greater U.S. exports.

Washington says an under-valued Yuan disadvantages U.S. manufacturers contributes to the world’s economic imbalance.

In a joint news conference, Obama said he is pleased to note that the Chinese have made commitments in past statements to move toward a more market-oriented exchange rate over time, and that it would make an essential contribution to the “global re-balancing effort."

Obama says he sees no need to change Washington's "one China" policy which acknowledges China's position that Taiwan is part of its territory. The U.S. "one-China" position acknowledges China's view on Taiwan, but it does not explicitly recognize China's sovereignty over Taiwan, nor does it recognize Taiwan as sovereign country.

歐巴馬訪華促貿易

     美國總統歐巴馬在與中國領導人會晤時，敦促提高人民幣匯率，讓更多的美國產品向中國市場出口。

     美國國內失業率已攀升至10.2％，此次歐巴馬中國行也為了向北京尋找解決中美貿易不平衡的途徑，為美國出口業鋪平道路。

     華府表示，人民幣的偏低價值不利美國加工業，并造成世界經濟的不平衡。

     在聯合新聞發佈會上，歐巴馬表示樂見中國已做出的努力，讓人民幣價值更趨市場化，對全球經濟的再平衡做出了重大貢獻。

     歐巴馬將繼續堅持「一中」政策，承認台灣是中國領土的一部份，并希望看到兩岸和平相處，促進兩岸交流和合作。
