Walesa Visits Texas

Well-known Polish labor leader, Lech Walesa came to Texas and addressed an overcrowd assembly at Sam Houston University. Walesa remarked that, "…the world lacks leadership

and while the United States has been the military leader to the world, it has also has been

the world’s economic leader, but it has not been the political leader to the world.”

Walesa, now 66, became synonymous with political freedom in the 1980's before most of the students he spoke to had even been born. He helped found the Solidarity trade union in Poland

in 1980, and  later that year led a shipyard strike across the country and led to the eventual ouster the government.

In 1996 he received a pacemaker at the Methodist Hospital at Houston and now says he feels

fit enough to lead another revolution.

Walesa said he believes that most of people in the world support political freedom and free markets, but that this will not prevail unless diverse nations can agree upon shared values.

波蘭工黨領袖蒞臨休士頓

 著名的波蘭工黨領袖李奇‧沃薩（Lech Walesa）日前蒞臨德州，并在山姆休士頓大學（Sam Houston University），向大批慕名而至的觀眾發表了演講。
 沃薩強調「世界缺乏領袖人物，盡管美國擁有領導世界的人物，同時盛產世界經濟的領導人，但卻缺乏世界政治的核心人物。」
 66歲的沃薩80年代已經聲名顯赫，成為自由政治的代名詞，1980年，他在波蘭幫助創建了團結貿易工會，之後，他領導席捲全國的造船廠大罷工，并最終導致罷黜波蘭政府。
 1966年，沃薩在休士頓衛理醫院(Methodist Hospital)接受心臟起搏器護理，如今，他表示適應良好，完全可以勝任新的領導改革。

 沃薩稱，他相信，世界上許多人都支持自由政治和自由市場，但事實上，自由的政治和市場並非普及，除非不同的國家都同意分享不同的價值觀。
